A suicide car bomber struck a police station in a town in west Baghdad on Monday, killing four policemen and wounding six people, a local police source said, Xinhua reported.
  
A suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a checkpoint outside a police station in the mainly Sunni Arab town of Abu Ghraib, some 20 km west of Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
  
The blast killed four policemen and wounded four others and two civilians, the source said.
  
Earlier in the day, the police reported separate bomb attacks in Baghdad that killed 13 people and wounded up to 78 others.
  
The attacks came a few days ahead of the scheduled pullout of U. S. troops from Iraqi towns and cities by the end of the month and ahead of the landmark Iraqi parliamentary elections scheduled for early next year.
  
Violence in Iraqi cities has dropped dramatically in recent months, but attacks remain common, particularly in Baghdad.
