Tajik Police Seize 50 kg of Afghan Heroin

Tajik police have seized 50 kilograms (110 lbs) of heroin of Afghan origin, a police spokesman said on Monday.

The drugs were found on Sunday in a Toyota vehicle by traffic police officers at a checkpoint in the capital, Dushanbe, the spokesman said.

An investigation is underway.

Tajik police have seized a total of 1.2 tons of drugs since January, some 284 kilograms more than in the same period last year.
