Algerian Health Ministry on Saturday confirmed the North African country's first influenza A/ H1N1 case in an Algerian woman arriving from the United States, the state APS news agency reported.
  

After medical tests at a reference laboratory of the Pasteur Institute of Algeria, the woman was confirmed positive to the novel virus, the report said, Xinhua reported.
  

Travelling with her two daughters, the woman arrived in Algeria on Tuesday on a Lufthansa flight from Miami via Frankfurt, the APS said.
  

"The person who confirmed positive to a test for the A/H1N1 virus as well as her two daughters have been hospitalized, where they are receiving the appropriate care," the health ministry said.
  

The Health Ministry said Algeria has taken precautious measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic, advising the people to wash their hands frequently and not to visit the infected.
  

According to the latest tally by the World Health Organization (WHO), 95 countries and regions have officially reported at least 44,287 cases of A/H1N1 influenza infection, including 180 deaths.
