Tuesday, 16 June 2009Turkish culture and music will be promoted during the "Istanbulive: The Sounds & Colors of Turkey" event to take place in New York, USA on June 26-27.
Releasing a written statement on the upcoming event, Turkey's Tourism and Promotion Office in New York said that the main goal of "Istanbulive" was to introduce the Turkish music to the U.S. audience and critics. Nearly 5,000 people are expected to attend the event, the statement said.
"Istanbulive: The Sounds & Colors of Turkey" is an unprecedented weekend of events in New York aimed at introducing Turkish music to the popular American consciousness.
The festivities will happen over two days on June 26 and 27, and it will include an admission-free show at New York's Central Park SummerStage featuring major Turkish artists including Mazhar Fuat Ozkan, "Painted on Water" featuring Sertab Erener & Demir Demirkan and Husnu Senlendirici with Vassilis Saleas.
The programs celebrate the colorful Turkish culture with food and visuals, while underlining the musical richness of Istanbul and the extraordinary virtuosity and diversity of Turkish music today. |
