Hillary Clinton
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the United States hopesthe outcome of the Iranian election reflects the "genuine will anddesire of the Iranian people."

Speaking in Canada Saturday,Clinton said the Obama administration had been closely following theelection.  Incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared thewinner by a large margin, but the opposition has fiercely protestedagainst the results, alleging major voting irregularities.

Clinton said the administration is carefully monitoring the situation as it unfolds.

TheObama administration has indicated it plans to engage more with Iran,particularly over the country's controversial nuclear program.
