Russia and the Organization of Petroleum Producing Countries (OPEC) plan to discuss cooperation at a seminar in July, Russia's energy minister said on Wednesday.

"The seminar will take place in July, the venue - Vienna or Moscow - is being discussed at the moment," Sergei Shmatko said.

Russia, the largest non-OPEC oil producer, and the 12-nation cartel have differed recently over measures to stabilize prices amid the current economic recession.

Russia has benefited from OPEC members' cuts in oil exports, but has not joined the group in reducing its oil output, a major source of its budget revenue.
