Russian law enforcement bodies have put some 1,300 suspected criminals, including over 100 facing terrorism charges, on Interpol's wanted list, the police organization's Russia chief told journalists on Thursday.

"Of these, 320 are wanted for murder, 309 for fraud, 103 for terrorism, 167 for robbery, looting and extortion, 76 for smuggling, and 58 for drug trafficking," Timur Lakhonin said.

He added that since the beginning of the year 10 people have been extradited to Russia, primarily from Germany and Spain.

"Over 80 people are under arrest in foreign countries and waiting for rulings on extradition to Russia," Lakhonin said.

However, he said that despite the positive figures, there are still problems in cooperation with several foreign countries.

Refused extradition requests have proved a major source of dispute between Russia and the United Kingdom, the two most prominent cases being fugitive tycoon Boris Berezovsky, wanted on fraud and other charges in Russia, and Andrei Lugovoi, suspected in Britain of killing Kremlin critic Alexander Litvinenko.
