Tuesday, 2 June 2009Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for European Union talks Egemen Bagis met with Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Konstantyn Yeliseyev in Ankara.
Bagis said at the meeting, "Ukraine is one of our neighboring countries with strategic importance. In recent years, our trade volume increased considerably."
Yeliseyev, on his part, said that they aimed at further improving their strategic relations with Turkey.
He said that they also wanted to increase existing cooperation between the two countries in efforts to ensure regional security and stability to a higher level.
There are significant opportunities to strengthen the commercial and economic cooperation between Turkey and Ukraine, he said. He also highlighted importance of taking joint steps to decrease effects to the global financial crisis to the minimum.
Yeliseyev added that Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would pay state visit to Ukraine till the end of the year. |
