Friday, 29 May 2009Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Friday that Turkey and Tajikistan were determined in fight against terrorism, illegal migration, illicit drug trafficking, arms smuggling, organized crimes and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Holding a joint press conference with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon in Tajik capital of Dushanbe, Gul said that political relations between Turkey and Tajikistan were perfect, and both countries were supporting each other in international platforms.
Turkey received the support of Tajikistan for its membership to international organizations like UN Security Council, and Turkey would extend support to Tajikistan in every platform, Gul said.
Gul said that Turkey was ready to make contribution and share its experiences regarding Tajikistan's membership to World Trade Organization.
Gul also said that the trade volume between Turkey and Tajikistan was over 500 million USD.
Tajikistan had a big hydroelectrical potential, Gul said that Turkish businessmen could invest in this area.
Tajik President Rahmon said that they decided that Turkish construction companies would visit Tajikistan and open a commerce fair in Dushanbe.
Rahmon said that both countries were encouraging their businessmen about the projects on energy, light industry, tourism, agriculture and transportation sectors.
Rahmon said that they wanted to share Turkey's experiences regarding Tajikistan's membership to World Trade Organization as well as creation of free trade zones in the country.
He also said that Turkey and Tajikistan had similar opinions about regional security and cooperation. |
