HOSPITAL BLAZE KILLS EIGHT
Fire broke out at a public hospital in the northwestern province of Bursa on Tuesday, killing 8 people and injuring several others. Officials said casualties were mainly due to intense smoke from the blaze that consumed the electrical wiring network at a ventilation shaft. There were 443 patients and 120 personnel at the hospital.

TURKEY ASSUMES CHAIR IN UN SANCTIONS COMMITTEE
Turkey has assumed the chair position of a United Nations sanctions
committee on north Korea and it will be Turkey to convey UN's ultimatums to North Korea to bring an immediate halt to Pyongyang's nuclear program. Turkey is also set to take over on June 1 the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council.

ISRAELI AMBASSADOR: GET RID OF THIS PHOBIA
Israeli Ambassador in Ankara Gabriel Levy said that Israelis wanted to come to Turkey to make investments, and they did not have the intention to seize Turkish lands. Levy said that Turkey should get rid of this phobia. Regarding the claims that Israelis bought lands in Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) region, Levy said that so far he had not met a single Israeli who bought a land in that region.

CELIKEL NEW PRESIDENT OF CYDD
Following the demise of Turkan Saylan, Prof. Dr. Aysel Celikel was selected as the new president of the Association for Support of Contemporary Living (CYDD). Prof. Celikel said that CYDD would continue its activities with the same understanding.

RUSSIANS GET ANGRY WITH MARDAN PALACE
Russia reacted against the ultra-luxury hotel Mardan Palace which was
inaugurated in Turkish southern province of Antalya by Azerbaijani businessman Telman Ismailov with participation of Hollywood celebrities. Russian Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper wrote a news report titled "they earned in Moscow, then built the palace in Turkey", and strongly criticised Ismailov.

DEATH IN VAIN IN INTENSIVE CARE UNIT
Eight patients recieving treatment in intensive care unit in a state
hospital in western province of Bursa lost their lives because of a chain of
negligence.
The fire that broke out late at night in Sevket Yilmaz state hospital, which was constructed with modern technology, was put out in a short time. However, the heavy smoke spread to upstairs through ventilation system. 8 of the 16 patients in intensive care unit lost their lives.

TURKEY IS THE KEY IN SOLUTION
Relations between Turkey and Armenia and approach of Azerbaijan to the relations was negotiated in a workshop on Tuesday. Armenian acedemicians believe that the solution addresses Turkey.

NOW THE SCOTTISH MODEL
Murat Karayilan, actual head of the terrorist organization PKK, had
previously suggested that state system or models in Kosovo and Basque region could be used for PKK. In an interview with the British daily "The Times", Karayilan said, "we want a parliament like the Scottish people".

LET FRIENDS BE HAPPY AND ENEMIES THINK, BASBUG
Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) held one of its most important field exercises in Seferihisar town of the Aegean province of Izmir yesterday. Scenes from the "Efes 2009" exercise were just like a real war. TSK members used real bullets and new weapons in the exercise. Delivering a speech at Efes 2009, Turkish General Staff Chief Gen. Ilker Basbug said that Turkey's friends would be happy to see TSK's power and capability, while its enemies would start to think more deeply.

AMERICAN TURKISH SOCIETY TO MARK 60TH ANNIVERSARY
The American Turkish Society is set to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its foundation at a gala night in New York City. Turkish and American businesspeople will gather for the event which is also expected to host former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Coca-Cola's Turkish CEO, Muhtar Kent and Ilhan Ozince, head of Turkey's Anadolu Group, will share a "corporate partnership award."

TURKEY TO EXPLORE NEW MARKETS IN SOUTH AMERICA
Turkish State Minister Zafer Caglayan said the government would organize business trips to South American countries next spring as part of an effort to reach out to new markets. "We are targeting South America and other closed markets in order to achieve our goal in exports," Caglayan said. Turkey plans to make 104 billion worth of exports in 2009.

FIRE IN HOSPITAL: 3 NEGLIGENCE AND 8 LIVES
Eight patients died in a fire that broke out in state hospital in western
province of Bursa. The three negligence that killed 8 patients are: the company that constructed the hospital did not abide by the condition of fireproof cables.
Chairman of Bursa Medical Chamber said, "the fire broke out in cables of
tomography equipment. The cables should have a special cover and should not cause smoke". The second negligence was the ventilation system. The medical chamber said, "under the regulations, ventilation system of the intensive care units and operating rooms should be separate from the main building to be hygienic and to be protected from dangers like fire. However, this hospital does not have a separate ventilation system."
As the third negligence, the medical chamber said, there was not a plan
against possibility of fire. There was not necessary equipment to transport the patients in the intensive care unit.

ASSURANCES TO AZERBAIJAN
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who held talks in Azerbaijan, gave
assurances to Azerbaijan. He said, "Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and
stability are essential for us. Turkey will continue to be with you in the
future."

TURKIYE

PUTIN WILL BE IN TURKEY IN JUNE
Vladimir Putin, who had earlier visited Turkey as the Russian president,
will be hosted in Turkey this time as the prime minister on June 15. Before he visits Turkey, Putin will bring Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders together in Moscow. The main agenda in Ankara will be solution of Armenia-Azerbaijan crisis.

TERROR AT HOSPITAL
A fire broke out in Sevket Yilmaz State Hospital in the northwestern
province of Bursa, and eight patients at intensive care unit died of smoke
poisoning. The fire broke out due to electrical contact in Radiology Service of the hospital which has a capacity of 514 beds.

PRESIDENT GUL WARNS: REFRAIN FROM STRONG LANGUAGE ON LANDMINES
President Abdullah Gul made important warnings on sweeping of minefield. Gul said the problem became a topic of discussion during the period of the 58th government, noting that, "General Staff was assigned on this matter however the mines were not swept."
Gul warned the government to give more information to the opposition on the matter and at the same time called on the opposition to refrain from strong criticisms.

BAGIS: TURKEY CAN NOT ENTER EU WITH THIS CONSTITUTION
State minister and chief negotiator for the EU talks Egemen Bagis strongly supported the views that the constitution should be altered.
Bagis said EU executives primarily wanted a constitutional change.

RUSSIANS ANGRY
Russians got angry after Russian businessman with Azerbaijani origin Telman Ismailov opened a 1.4 billion USD worth hotel in the Mediterranean province of Antalya. Russian press wrote that Ismailov earned such money in Russia and there was no need for him to make such an investment in Turkey.

WE ARE PROUD
"Efes 2009" field exercise of Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) made Turkey proud. Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chief of General Staff Gen. Ilker Basbug watched the exercise together. Tanks and 105-mm artilleries were used for the first time in the exercise.
