HURRIYET

GERMANS TO CONSTRUCT "MUSEUM OF INNOCENCE"
German architects will construct a museum in Istanbul which will be named after Nobel-laureate Turkish author Orhan Pamuk's recent novel "The Museum of Innocence". The museum will be in a house where Kemal and Fusun, the two characters in the novel, lived in Cukurcuma. Pamuk reached an agreement with Brigitte and Gregor Sunder Plassmann for the construction of the museum. The two German architects will start building the museum within three months.

SENER'S PARTY IS TURKEY
Former deputy prime minister Abdullatif Sener, who resigned from the Justice & Development (AK) Party, established "Turkey Party". Sener declared his place in politics as "democratic central party." M. Yasar Ozturk, an AK Party parliamentarian from central province of Yozgat, resigned from his party and joined Turkey Party. Thus, Sener's party entered the parliament on the day it was established.

SENER SETS UP "TURKEY PARTY"
Abdullatif Sener, one of the founders of Justice & Development (AK) Party and former deputy prime minister, returned to politics with "Turkey Party" after an interval. The party will be represented at Parliament with Mehmet Yasar Ozturk who earlier resigned from AK Party. The emblem of the party is two shaking hands in a Turkey map. The party has 33 founders and nine of them are women. Three of the founders are under the age of 30.

ERDOGAN'S A BRAVE APPROACH
Minorities and communities reacted positively to the statements of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who said, "people who had different ethnical identity were banished from the country (in the past). This was the result of a fascist approach." Turkish Jewish community chairman Silvyo Ovadya said that Erdogan told the truth, while Fener Greek Patriarchate spokesman Dositheos Anagnostopoulos said that it was a very brave approach, but concrete steps should follow that approach. Also Greek newspapers wrote broadly about the statements of Erdogan.

HOMECOMING AFTER NIGHTMARE
The crew of Turkish cargo ship Mira, which was stranded off India for four months, returned home. 16 Turkish and 8 Azeri crew members arrived in Istanbul on Monday. Their relatives and friends hugged them in tears. The sailors were at risk of hunger and sinking for the time they were stranded in the middle of the ocean.

DELAY FORMULA
In search for a solution to "affidavit crisis" of the Democratic Society
Party, parliament speaker's office sent a surprising petition to the court.
The petition said, "parliamentarians are usually out of town. We have given a written notice about court decision to their secretaries but they might not have information about it." So, parliament speaker's office has taken a step to delay the court hearing and take their testimony by police force.

DAVUTOGLU FLIES BY USING MILES
Foreign Ministry collects miles earned from flights of diplomats in a pool. It was revealed that some of Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's tickets were purchased using these miles.

NAME OF SENER'S PARTY IS TURKEY
Abdullatif Sener, who has been making preparations for a long time for a political party, submitted the petition regarding foundation of his party. Sener, who set off with the name Turkey for his party, strongly criticized Justice & Development (AK) Party.

TURKEY CONDEMNS NORTH KOREA
United Nations Security Council convened extraordinarily and discussed
nuclear tests of North Korea. Speaking to journalists, Baki Ilkin, Turkey's
Permanent Representative to the UN, said nuclear tests would further deepen North Korea's isolation in the world. He said Turkey also condemned the nuclear test.

SENER BEGINS WITH STRONG CRITICISM
Former state minister and deputy prime minister Abdullatif Sener, who left the ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party a while ago, formed a new political party, the "Turkey Party."
Sener said the government could not manage the economic crisis and relieved only importers in Turkey.
"They (government) are re-designing the furniture while Titanic is sinking," he said.

SOCIAL STATE IN DEATH AGONY
Theologian professor Salih Akdemir said holy Quran should be re-interpreted.
Akdemir, a professor at Ankara University Faculty of Divinity, said an
almsgiving culture has been created in Turkey instead of a social state. Akdemir said one of the goals of the Quran was to create a classless society.
He also said that directorate of religious affairs should be re-arranged.
"There can not be a directorate of religious affairs as a state organization in a secular country," he said.

CINDORUK: "DEMIREL PREVENTED MARCH 12 MODEL"
Husamettin Cindoruk, the chairman of the Democrat Party (DP), said that Suleyman Demirel, a former president of Turkey, prevented a military intervention on February 28, 1997, similar to that in March 12, 1971. Cindoruk said, "they proposed March 12 model to Demirel and said that Demirel could stay as the president and the army could settle the issue down with old methods." Cindoruk also said, "however Demirel kept the parliament open and prevented a military intervention." Cindoruk regretted that he had not become the chairperson of the True Path Party (DYP) instead of Tansu Ciller after Demirel was elected the president of Turkey.

MINSK IS THE TARGET
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu burst anger at the Minsk Group of the
Organization for Security & Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) that could not solve the Upper Karabakh dispute for 17 years. Davutoglu said, "the issue should no more be a frozen dispute."

TURKIYE

REVOLUTION IN EDUCATION
Ministry of Education initiated "electronic book" period in three schools in Ankara. The ministry gave teachers and students "notebooks" which have internet connection. The students may be able to follow the lessons when they can't come to school.

MURDERERS OF SABANCI ON TRIAL AGAIN
Belgium re-tries seven DHKP-C members, who were released last year in Belgium instead of being extradited to Turkey. Sabanci's murderer Fehriye Erdal who has been at large and the organization's head Dursun Karatas who died are among the people on trial.

OUR GRADE IS GOOD EVEN IF THERE IS NOT IMF AGREEMENT
International rating organizations said Turkey's grade would not drop even if Turkey would not sign agreement with the IMF.
The rating organizations said Turkish economy had a less fragile structure than Britain thanks to strong banking system.

WARM MESSAGES FROM KYRGYZ LEADER AHEAD OF GUL'S VISIT
Kyrgyz leader Kurmanbek Bakiev gave warm messages before President Abdullah Gul's scheduled visit to his country. Bakiev said, "our relations are above all interests." Gul will pay a formal visit to Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday and be accompanied by a large group of businessmen and journalists. This will be the first visit of a Turkish president to Kyrgyzstan in eight years. Speaking to Zaman daily newspaper, Bakiev said Turkey and Kyrgyzstan had always been beside each other and were helping each other. "Kyrgyzstan has opened to foreign world and particularly the West via its sister country Turkey." The Kyrgyz leader also said Gul's visit meant opening a new page for boosting bilateral relations.

TURKEY IS NOW EXPORTING VEGETABLE SEEDS
Turkey was importing 95 percent of its vegetable seeds from foreign
countries until five years ago. However, Turkey is today exporting vegetable seeds to 20 countries, including Israel, that has advanced insemination technologies. Besides European countries, there are Turkic republics and Middle Eastern countries among Turkey's export points.

CONNECTING ABDULLATIF
Abdullatif Sener's new political party, "Turkey Party", was recorded as the 61st party of Turkish political history. People, who saw the emblem of the party displaying two shaking hands on a blue background with a map of Turkey, murmured the "Connecting People" slogan of Nokia.

FOUR MONTHS OF ENSLAVEMENT AT OCEAN ENDS
16 Turkish and 8 Azerbaijani crew members of the cargo ship 'Mira', who waited to get rescued for four months at Indian Ocean, were brought to Istanbul.
Families welcomed the crew members with tears. The crew members were stranded at sea due to financial problems with operator company.
