Saturday, 23 May 2009The U.S. Embassy in Ankara thanked on Friday Turkish officials and medical personnel who extended aid to American citizens and relatives exposed to the H1N1 virus.
"The U.S. Embassy wishes to express its sincere appreciation for the competence, cooperation and compassion of the many Turkish officials and medical personnel who intervened in the recent case of American citizens and relatives exposed to the H1N1 virus," said a statement from the embassy.
"Thanks to the officials and personnel, the infected individuals were diagnosed and treated, and the entire party was assisted in its onward travel," the statement said.
Two American citizens suspected of being infected with the swine flu and their family members were hospitalized after they entered Turkey on May 14 at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
Turkish Health Ministry said Thursday the American citizens had been discharged from the hospital after they tested negative for H1N1 virus. |
