Saturday, 23 May 2009Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said on Friday that he held a series of fruitful talks with Turkmen officials within the scope of his visit to Turkmenistan.
Yildiz, who is currently in Ashkhabad to attend the Turkish-Turkmen Inter-governmental Economic Committee meeting, briefed reporters on his talks in this country.
Replying to questions on energy issue, Yildiz said that Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) would soon start a seismic and geological research in Turkmenistan's Kopet-Dag region together with Turkmen researchers and it would examine the hydrocarbons on the Turkmen territory.
He said TPAO would also make a seismic research in the Caspian Sea and carry out studies on the generation of electricity.
Commenting on the establishment of Turkish-Turkmen Business Council as well, Yildiz said that the trade volume between Turkey and Turkmenistan, which was currently around one billion USD, would be doubled in two years. |
