Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah said on Monday that he is "ready" and cautious if there were hidden Israeli intentions behind its maneuvers on May 31, Al-Manar TV reported.
In a televised speech, Nasrallah said, "if we consider this possibility (of an Israeli attack), although we believe Israel would not carry out any attack at present, it is our duty to be cautious and alert," stressing that his organization is ready for any option, Xinhua reported.
He added that Lebanese security circles fear a major security act, stressing that the "military maneuver will put the entire internal front in a state of war."
The chief of the Shiite Lebanese armed group named four possibilities behind the Israeli military exercise, the psychological dimension to restore confidence, a defense dimension, an intimidation dimension or a new surprise war which he said they are ready for.
Hezbollah fought a 34-day devastating war with Israel in 2006, and vowed to keep its arms as long as Israel poses a threat in the region.
"The Palestinian case is the origin of the conflict in the region," Nasrallah affirmed, stressing on his support to the Palestinians against "Israeli hostilities and occupation."
On the upcoming June 7 general elections in Lebanon, Nasrallah said that "the opposition more than anything wants the elections to take place on time."
