The United States is prepared to render constant help to Armenia to normalize Armenia-Turkey ties and to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the letter by the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said.

"In her letter she confirmed U.S. preparedness to render support to normalize Armenia-Turkey ties and also in the mediation conducted within the OSCE Minsk Group on the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Novosti Armenia quoted President's press service as saying.

"The U.S. Secretary of State also touched upon bilateral Armenia-U.S. ties and implementing program via Millennium Challenges funds in Armenia.

Clinton said free and transparent conduct of coming elections to the Council of Elders in Yerevan will reveal Armenia's compliance with democratic principles.

The first elections to the Council of Elders in Yerevan will be held on May 31. The council will compose 63 members elected under proportional system.

The first number in the party's list who gain absolute majority in the council will become mayor of Yerevan.
