Tbilisi To Host Int'l Music Festival

Georgia, Tbilisi, May 15 /Trend News, N. Kirtskhalia/ International music festival Tbilisi Open Air - Alter/Vision which will be alternative to Eurovision song contest will be held in Tbilisi on May 15-17. Organizer of the festival Vakho Banuashvili told reporters that the festival will be unprecedented for diversity in Georgia.

As many as 24 musicians from Georgia, France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Poland, Germany, Iceland, Denmark and Italy will participate.


The festival is organized by Step Records. 

The festival is expected to be held annually.

The festival will be opened on Sharden St. on May 15. A camp city will be found for participants. 

According to organizers, the festival was originally scheduled for summer, but a few foreign participating teams offered to host the festival along with the Eurovision-2009.

"This once again demonstrated the negative attitude of western music to the Eurovision contest. The Tbilisi Festival will be counterbalanced by Eurovision which shows that the contest has turned into a political, bureaucratic and controlled event," the organizers said.

Georgian band Stefan and 3 g refused to participate in Eurovision-2009 as a protest.
