President Of Turkmenistan Willing To Preserve Historic Center Of Ashgabat

The Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has recently got gold medal of UNESCO named after Avicenna for his contribution in preservation of cultural-historic monuments. The President paid special attention to historic center of Ashgabat. 

The President gave several instructions regarding improvement of picturesque square situated in historic part of Ashgabat. The square is located near the governmental building, local media reported. This territory was built after one of catastrophic earthquakes of 20 century occurred in 1948. 

Instructions were given to vice-premier D. Orazov and mayor of Ashgabat A. Bilishov. As it is known, construction company "Revival of Saint-Petersburg" participates in reconstruction of this plot in the tender. "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper stresses that Berdimuhamedov visited the square returning to his official residence till a new presidential complex is put into operation. The residence was temporary situated in the building of the Cabinet of Ministers.    

The building located in front of the square will return to postal department that will outline other areas. Presently, one of subunits of the state migration service is located there, the message said.  

"Mayor of Ashgabat was charged to eliminate shortages concerning improvement of several streets and sanitary state of several regions of the town shortly revealed during working trip", the information said.

Exposition "Architectural heritage of 20 century" was recently held in the museum of fine arts in Ashgabat. "Presently, Ashgabat is rapidly reconstructed. So, we organized an exhibition to demonstrate how to preserve urban atmosphere in France". Architectural monuments, such as Louvre pyramid, Defense arc, Francois Mitterrand library, etc. were exhibited at stand-screens, French center coordinator in Ashgabat N. Laruy said in her interview to Internet-edition "Middle Asia in Internet".  

"One of our principal tasks is to turn Ashgabat into a pearl of Asia," Berdimuhamedov said to participants of the international universal exhibition "White town- Ashgabat" held these days. Ashgabat suffers construction operations. A new town - Ashgabat-city is being built at the bottom of Kopetdag Mountains.
