Friday, 1 May 2009More than 200 students coming from Turkey and other European countries has been discussing issues on the EU agenda in terms of Model European Union Simulation, EUROsimA, at METU (Middle East Technical Univarsity, Turkey). Supported by several EU institutions, EUROsimA brings not only European students together but also experts from several institutions to give speech on EU issues. USAK EU expert Fatma Yilmaz Elmas has been one of the participants giving a conference to the students on racism and xenophobia in the EU.
EUROsimA, a simulation of European Union, brings together students of International Relations and other relevant disciplines to discuss some of the most important issues in the European Union and beyond. In this framework, main topic of 2009 is energy and intercultural dialogue. Taking part in the organization on Friday, May 1, Fatma Y. Elmas, has been dealt with different aspects and elements of racism, explained reasons behind racism and lastly evaluated EU-level instruments if efficient or not. The discussion has also stimulated by question-answer session.
EUROsimA, the fifth one, will continue until May 3, 2009.
