Wednesday, 22 April 2009A Turkish state minister had a meeting with Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe on Wednesday.
Turkish State Minister Said Yazicioglu paid a visit to Rahmon at the Presidential Palace.
Rahmon said that economic and commercial relations between the two countries should be boosted and Tajikistan could cooperate with Turkey in strategic areas. Tajikistan could benefit from experiences of Turkey in regard to hydroelectric power stations, he said.
Rahmon said he attached a great importance to the visit to be paid by Turkey's President Abdullah Gul to Dushanbe next month.
Yazicioglu said that they aimed to increase trade volume between Turkey and Tajikistan which currently amounted to 340 million U.S. dollars to 1 billion U.S. dollars within a few years.
In a separate meeting, State Minister Yazicioglu and Tajikistan's Economy and Trade Minister Ghulomjon Bobozoda signed the protocol of the 7th meeting of Turkey-Tajikistan Joint Economic Commission. |
