Azerbaijan, Baku, April 22 /Trend News, T. Jafarov/
The Baku conference of the heads of the law enforcement agencies of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) will contribute to fight against international terrorism, Iranian Deputy Police Chief Ahmad Rza Radan told Trend News in Baku.
"The two-day conference was held on a high level. Conference can be more productive due to sides' joint efforts," Iranian general said.
The conference of the heads of the law enforcement agencies of the Organization of the Islamic Conference was held in Baku on April 21-22.
The conference aimed to identify main directions of mutual cooperation among the OIC member states.
Transnational organized crime, international terrorism, extremism, aggressive separatism, trafficking of arms, narcotics, psychotropic drugs and their substitutes, human trafficking, illegal migration, legalization of funds and property obtained through crime, financing of terrorism and cooperation on combating corruption stood on the OIC conference's agenda.
The conference ended with Baku Declaration.
Radan said one of the major problems of all countries is transnational organized crime, international terrorism, extremism, aggressive separatism, trafficking of arms narcotics, psychotropic drugs and their substitutes. "Terrorism is perceived differently in every country. Islamic countries tried to form a unified position on concept of "terrorism" in the Baku conference so that every country will not interpret it in its favor and will not accuse other countries, specifically Islamic countries," he said.
Iranian general proposed to establish permanent secretariat of heads of the law enforcement agencies of the Organization of the Islamic Conference at the next conference. "The secretariat will enable countries to maintain permanent ties and expand cooperation by exchanging views and useful information for countries," Radan said.
