NATO military training in Georgia is a political demarche by the alliance, CIS Defense Ministers Council chairman Alexander Sinayskiy said in his interview with Echo of Moscow radio station.
Corporative Lancer/Corporative Longbow multinational training is expected to begin on May 3 and run through June 3 in Vaziani in Georgia in the area of fourth brigade. As many as 23 countries will attend the training. The training will be supervised by Colonel Nugzar Tsinstadze from Georgia and by Brigadier General Giovanni Savarese from NATO.
"The training is not maneuvers. There is nothing terrible about it. They will be methodical exercises and methodical training. This is political demarche by the NATO. Despite Russia's negative attitude, it will be implemented. One should accept it calmly," Sinayskiy said.
The training to be held in Georgia was planned in advance. It was reported about earlier last year.
He said Armenia and Kazakhstan, member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, will also participate as the training will be held under the UN auspice in the format of NATO Partnership for Peace Program.
"If to explain it more rationally it is not right time to hold training. This is my personal opinion," Sinayskiy said.
