Thursday, 16 April 2009An international women's film festival will take place in Turkey in May, the organizer company said on Thursday.
The Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival will be held in the Turkish capital of Ankara between May 7 and 14.
Ankara will host the festival for the 12th time this year.
Twelve films from nine countries will compete for the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) award during the festival. "Pandora'nin Kutusu" (Pandora's Box), a film by Yesim Ustaoglu, will represent Turkey in the competition. Other films are from Germany, the United States, Argentina, India, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Portugal and Russia.
The jury will make public the winner in the closing ceremony on May 14.
Flying Broom is a women's organization working for the improvement of democracy and civil society. Flying Broom aims at: enhancing gender equality consciousness, providing information and training to empower women, and contributing to the development of efficient policies for solving women?s problems stemming from inequality. |
