Thursday, 16 April 2009According to data released by Turkish Statistical Institute unemployment rate in Turkey calculated in January 2009 is 15.5 % which was 11.6 % in January 2008. The number of unemployed people is increased 1 million 59 thousand during previous year and reached a total number of 3 million 650 thousand.
Moreover, the data showed that unemployment rate among young population is 27.9 % which is worrisome for the Turkish economy as well as for social dynamics of the country.
According to CNN Turkey agency news, Turkey positioned itself among the countries of high unemployment rates.
Government is called for implementing concrete and well-planned programs by the labor unions to combat the rising unemployment rates .
