Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan Leaders Discuss Regional Problems |

Thursday, 9 April 2009On 8 April, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov and the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov discussed bilateral co-operation and urgent regional questions.
The sides highlighted necessarily of "further development (of relations), considering national priorities and new contemporary realities". In this context was expressed the importance of joint efforts to device new approaches to the solution of water problem, which is common for the countries of region, and also problem of Aral.
Berdimuhamedov invited his Uzbek counterpart to make an official visit to Turkmenistan. "The invitation was accepted with regard," the same source reported. The dates of visit will be coordinated via diplomatic channels.
The telephone conversation took place on the initiative of the Uzbek side. |
