One of the crises the Netanyahu government will be required to solve is spiraling unemployment, and as if to underline this fact, the National Employment Service (NES) reported an all-time high in monthly job losses on Sunday.
According to the new data, 20,072 people lost their jobs in March, compared with 17,800 in the previous month and 11,800 in March last year.
Trade, Industry and Labor Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said that things were not going to get any easier.
"The employment problem will get even worse after Pessah with another wave of dismissals," he predicted.
Speaking to Army Radio, NES Director-General Yossi Parhi confirmed that the previous monthly dismissal record of 19,700, set in January 2009, had been broken.
"Unemployment is one of the most important issues the government has to deal with and I believe it will be dealt with properly," Parhi added optimistically.
