Friday, 3 April 2009U.S. state of California is hosting the Anatolian Cultures and Food Festival in Orange County.
Sponsored by the Pacifica Institute, the festival takes place on a land of 30,000 square meters.
In the festival, visitors can see giant pictures from such Turkish provinces as Istanbul, Konya, Antalya, Mardin and Van.
Turkey's Tourism Attache in Los Angeles, Dilek Tan, said that the festival in Orange County happens to be the biggest organization to promote Turkey in the world.
"Anatolia has arrived in the United States," Tan said.
The festival displays dozens of hand made souvenirs from different corners of Turkey. Folklore dancers from various parts of Turkey perform at the festival.
Giant banners showing pictures of various Turkish sites, including the Covered Bazaar, the Topkapi Palace and Bosphorus Bridge, are on display at the festival.
Organizers of the festival expect at least 100,000 Californians to visit the event.
Pacifica Institute is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 by Turkish and American community leaders of the Los Angeles Area. The mission of the institute is to foster peace and honor diversity through dialogue and multicultural interaction. |
