Monday, 30 March 2009ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday the local elections results in Turkey indicate confidence of the Turkish people in the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party.
Speaking at a press conference held at the headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party on early Monday, Erdogan said that the AK Party has strengthened its position on the center of the political equilibrium.
"The AK Party has confirmed that it is the biggest political party in Turkey embracing all in the east, west, north and south," Erdogan said. The results of the March 29 local elections point out to democratic stability, service for the people, investments and unity, Erdogan stressed.
As the Turkish government we are at an equal distance to all mayors who have been elected regardless of their political party background, Erdogan also said.
