A fire near the Lala village in the Sari region in Iran's Mazandaran province destroyed 130 hectares of forest land on March 29, the Iranian television channel reported.

"The fire caused $280,000 in damages to the province," Mazandaran Natural Resources Protection Department Managing Director Hossein Alipour said on March 29.

The fire followed an intentional arson, Alipour said.

"Villagers and the regional police force helped the firemen. The firefighting lasted two hours," he said.
