The main opposition party has cancelled its pre-election campaigns after a helicopter carrying Grand Unity Party (BBP) leader Muhsin Yazicioglu crashed.

The Republican People's Party (CHP) said in a statement on Friday that the campaigns scheduled to be held in the southern province of Antalya on Friday and in the northern province of Trabzon on Saturday were cancelled.

A chopper carrying Yazicioglu and five other people crashed in the southern province of Kahramanmaras on Wednesday afternoon while heading for the central province of Yozgat. Efforts to find them and wreckage of their helicopter have not yielded any result because of bad weather conditions in the region.
