Turkey, Tanzania Sign Agricultural Cooperation Agreement |

Monday, 23 February 2009DAR ES SALAAM - Turkey and Tanzania signed a agricultural cooperation agreement Wednesday, during a meeting between the Presidents of the two countries.
Turkey's President Abdullah Gul met with his Tanzanian Counterpart Jakaya Kikwete on the second day of his visit to this country during which a technical, scientific, economic and commercial cooperation agreement in the area of agriculture, was signed.
Speaking at the joint press conference held after the meeting, Gul said his visit bore special importance as this was the first visit to this country by a Turkish President. He said a new era in Turkey's relations with Tanzania had begun.
Gul said they assessed possible areas of cooperation like energy education and health, during the meeting, noting that he expressed Turkey's determination to increase investments in Tanzania.
He said they also assessed regional issues, noting that Kikwete briefed him on the recent political developments in East Africa region and the entire continent.
"As a member of the UN Security Council, we need such consultations and these will continue," said Gul.
Kikwete said Gul's visit would be the foundation of cooperation between the two countries. He said they were ready to cooperate with Turkey in all areas.
