Sunday, 22 February 2009On Sunday, on the second stop of his tour to sub-Saharan countries, Turkish President Abdullah Gul arrived in the Tanzanian city of Dar Es Salaam. President Gul welcomed by Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete with a formal ceremony.
Abdullah Gul met Tanzanian citizens who were educated in Turkey after his arrival.
President Gul met with 37 Tanzanians in Klimanjaro Kempinski Hotel. Gul made a short speech to group and said, "Turkey will open an embassy in Tanzania. But I see Turkey already has 37 ambassadors here."
Gul also suggested the Tanzanians to be pioneers of development in Tanzania and not to cut their relations with their friends in Turkey.
"Hussein Mwinyi, Tanzanian Minister of Defense & National Service, was one of the 200 Tanzanian nationals who got university education in Turkey," is reported.
President Gul will attend Turkey-Tanzania Business Forum after this meeting.
