Friday, 20 February 2009ISTANBUL - Turkish Airlines (THY) started to fly to Kenya on Friday, the press office of the company said.
THY launched direct flights to Kenya capital of Nairobi, the press office also said.
Nairobi became the first international destination the airline company added to its flight network, raising the international flight points of THY to 110.
The airline company will fly from the Turkish city of Istanbul to Nairobi three times a week.
THY's Istanbul-Nairobi flights will be on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The return flights will be on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The flights will be 299 Euro, excluding taxes, till March 23, 2009.
Founded in 1933, Turkish Airlines made its first international flight among the Turkish capital of Ankara, Istanbul and the Greek capital of Athens in 1947.
Turkey's national air carrier, Turkish Airlines carried 22.5 million passengers between January and December 2008, with a 15 percent rise over the same period of 2007.
THY's number of business class passengers in international flights rose 23.2 percent in 2008 when compared to the previous year.
The airline company carried a total of 199,006 tons of cargo in 2008, up 8.7 percent when compared to the previous year.
