Enerjisa Aims to Provide at Least 10 Percent of Turkey's Total Electricity Supply

Enerjisa, Sabanci Group's joint venture with Verbund, announced that it aimed at providing at least 10 percent of Turkey's total electricity supply.

A statement issued by the company to the Istanbul Stock Exchange on Thursday said it viewed the energy sector as one of its main areas of operation.

It said it wanted to reach a capacity of 5,000 MWs until 2015, with 8 billion USD of investment.

"Enerjisa currently has a capacity of 455MWs. Also construction of hydroelectric power plants (1000MWS) and Bandirma Natural gas power plant, with a capacity of 920 MW is underway. International finance institutions under the coordination of IFC, Akbank, WestLB AG, provided 1 billion Euro of credit to be used for the construction of 10 hydroelectric power plants over Seyhan and Ceyhan rivers and in Camlicasi and the natural gas power plant in Bandirma," said the statement.
