Wednesday, 18 February 2009Russo - Turkish consortium Atomstroyexport-Inter Rao-Park revised their offer per KW/h from 21.16 cent to 15.35 cent in nuclear power plant bid. As known, the first nuclear power plant in Turkey is planned to be build in Mersin Akkuyu and it was only Russo-Turkish consortium that gave offer bid on 24 September 2008. The power plant will consist of four units of each 1200 MW and the total capacity of the station would be 4800 MW.
Director of Turkish Electricity Trade and Contracting Corporation (TETCC) Haci Duran Gokkaya stated that the process continues, the consortium has provided necessary documents until now, and the TETCC Commission assesses the offer taking into consideration the public interest and also the law and regulations regarding the issue.
Stating that there is no problem in the framework of laws and regulations, Gokkaya said that after the assessment process executive body will evaluate the offer. Then the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources will decide on whether to take the offer to the Council of Ministers. If the last decision would be positive, the project will be sent to Energy Market Regulatory Authority and Turkish Atom Energy Commission for license acquisition.
It is argued that 15 year length agreement would worth $60 billion and the power plant if gets approval will be built in 8-10 years time.
