Jihad El-Khazen Al-Hayat

Prominent historian Constantine Zureik wrote in the 1930s The Manifesto of Arab Nationalism and lived to see the dreams of unity so shattered that he even became frustrated toward the end of his life by the invasion of Kuwait; therefore he stopped publishing in Al-Hayat for some time then resumed writing a little before his death in the United States.

Dr Zureik was a history professor of generations of Arab students and others, from Damascus, to Beirut, New York (Columbia), and Washington (Georgetown University). His work The Red Book which goes back to the early 1930s was known as The Manifesto of Arab Nationalism for calling for the establishment of a united Arab entity and for the creation of scientific and national awareness within "a democratic vessel." He preceded my days at the American University of Beirut, but I was one of his followers. I recalled him this month as I was reading a report entitled "A Manifesto to Save the Free Market" by Jeremy Warner who listed ten points to rescue the global economy.

Warner is an expert in his topic. He is in charge of the financial and business news in the liberal and prestigious Independent daily. But I believe the manifesto he wrote will not be more successful than The Manifesto of Arab Nationalism that was written 70 years ago, or than The Communist Manifesto co-authored by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in the mid-19th century.

I may write The Manifesto of the Palestinian Cause tomorrow though it is unlikely that I will. I am fully confident that if I write it, it will not solve the problem.

The above is clear and acceptable. Many people earnestly believe they have the key to the solution and write a manifesto or do not, as is the case with me. However, the above is an introduction after which I get to Israel, its supporters, and the daily manifesto of lies in all the media. They vary between blunt lies, wishes, and intimidation, with accusations permanently shifted to all other parties, even when Israel's guilt is proven. The Israelis put forward solutions that can only be accepted by Israel.

I could owe the idea behind this article to an interview with Israeli terrorist Benjamin Netanyahu headlined "Iran Is the Terrorist 'Mother Regime'" in the Wall Street Journal.

Israel is the mother and the father of terror, the only surviving neo-Nazi state in the world with the succession of convicted terrorists to its premiership such as Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Shamir, Ariel Sharon, as well as Netanyahu and Ehud Barak who have both perpetrated terror.

After shifting the accusation to Iran, Netanyahu did his best to depict it as a "bugaboo" and then wished it would be prevented from possessing nuclear weapons.

With the possession of nuclear weapons by Israel, I wish Iran would possess similar weapons. I even wish every Arab country would possess such weapons as long as we cannot free the entire Middle East of weapons of mass destruction.

Old politician Henry Kissinger wrote something similar, but it was wrapped in a pseudo-academic language in his New York Times article headlined "Containing the Fire of the Gods," i.e. nuclear weapons. He mentioned Iran/Iranians and non-existent weapons six times, while he did not mention Israel and its famous weapons a single time.

The material available on the Israel gang is enough to write a book, but I content myself with headlines and adjust to the available space.

Matthew Levitt, a professional Israeli apologist, is looking for terror money. Yet, it is not Israeli terror, but rather that of national liberation movements fighting against Israeli terror, such as Hezbollah and Hamas. In his article headlined "Hizballah's Military Wing Under Pressure Despite Political Gains," he reiterated the talk on terror money, shifting the accusation from Israel to its enemies. Then he spoke of alleged overseas activism by Hezbollah - allegations he wishes were true - and spoke of what Ma´ariv referred to on the threat posed to the Israelis around the world, alleging that Hezbollah is preparing for "terrorist" operations overseas to avenge Imad Mughniyyeh's assassination.

They wish this were true but it will not happen as Hezbollah and Hamas face Israel only in the battleground, though the Jewish Middle East Times magazine quotes anonymous American officials as saying that the United States stepped up scrutiny of Iranian men in Latin America, along with the Lebanese communities there after Hezbollah's "alarming expansion" financed by the narco-dollars from Latin American gangs.

Which activities and which drugs? They wish this were true, but I have a personal reply to such impudent lies. My information comes from direct, not illusory sources that only exist in equally sick and vivid imaginations. (To be continued)
