Thursday, 29 January 2009The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts the Uzbek GDP growth in 2009 at 7% against 9% in 2008, Uzbek Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Elyor Ganiyev told a business forum in the Uzbek capital.
"An IMF mission visited Uzbekistan literally some weeks ago and confirmed that the Uzbek economic growth in 2008 was 9%. And it forecasts that economic growth in 2009 will be at the level of seven per cent.
Assessments of Uzbekistan are very close to the IMF figures. At the same time, we predict that economic growth will be 7.8% in 2009," Elyor Ganiyev said.
He says that high indexes of the economic growth are substantially connected with new investment projects "that are steadily being implemented today". |
