Turkish Energy Minister Due to Budapest for Gas Pipeline Meeting

Turkish Energy Minister Hilmi Guler is set to travel next Monday to Budapest, Hungary to participate in a meeting of the countries taking part in a pipeline project which would carry natural gas to western markets.

Guler will meet energy officials as well as representatives from energy companies to discuss the project known as the Nabucco natural gas pipeline.

Nabucco Pipeline is planned to be completed by 2013 and it would carry natural gas mainly from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to Europe.

The 3,300 km pipeline crosses over six different countries with half of it over Turkey. The other participants are Austria, Germany, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary.
