Two Ergenekon assassination teams were captured yesterday by the police in 14 provinces throughout the country in raids organized as part of an investigation into the group.

According to the public prosecutors' indictment, Ergenekon is a clandestine terrorist organization nested within state organs and charged with plotting to overthrow the government. The indictment says that the Ergenokon members aimed to assassinate the significant ideological and minority figures in Turkey to polarize the society. The ultimate aim of the organization is a military coup. Most of the arrested members are anti-EU and anti-American people. Some of them are known for their anti-Israel and anti-Semitic speeches, books and comments.
