Turkish State Minister for family and women affairs Nimet Cubukcu said Turkey could provide shelter, and medical treatment and psychological support for the war affected Palestinian children under Israel's Gaza offensive.

"We can extend care for about 200 Palestinian children either temporarily or permanently, for those who were affected by the conflict or lost their parents," Cubukcu told the AA on Wednesday.

Cubukcu said United Nations convention on children's rights dictated all member countries to take all necessary measures to protect and provide care for war torn children.

"The entire world must show the necessary sensitivity if it is the children who are at stake," Cubukcu said.

The UN's head of humanitarian affairs said on Tuesday that 1,314, of whom 412 were children, were killed and 5,300 people -- 1,855 of whom were children -- were wounded under the Israeli operation.
