Third journalist dead in Gaza after night of attacks on homes, media buildings |

Saturday, 10 January 2009Gaza – Journalist Ala Mortaji died Friday evening from wounds sustained when Israeli tank fire hit his home during an invasion of the Zaitoun district of Gaza City earlier in the day.
Mortaji is the third journalist to be killed in the Israeli violence in Gaza, he worked as a radio broadcast personality in Gaza on a local radio show.
Medical sources confirmed Ala’s death, and said his mother had her arms amputated after the attack.
Israel is continuing its targeting of homes in the northern and central Gaza Strip, and has reported bombing more than 70 targets since Friday morning, killing more than 35 people during the course of the day.
Resistance fighters launched more than 20 projectiles aimed at Israeli targets during the day.
According to Israeli sources, at least 646 projectiles have been launched since the invasion began on 27 December.
As of Saturday morning local time, 801 Palestinians in Gaza were dead as a result of the Israeli violence.
