Ramallah – The Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) said Friday that it considers Security Council resolution # 1860 an essential step to establishing peace in Gaza.

Fatah spokesperson Fahmi Az-Za’areer said the resolution’s elements would halt the attacks on Gaza and had the safety of all Palestinians in mind. The resolution will remove Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip, lift the siege and open all crossings.

Palestinian blood is more important that personal interests or gains, Az-Za’areer added, calling the successful resolution a result of great joint efforts by the Arab foreign ministers and especially Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa.

This proves the effectiveness of cooperation, when Arabs work together as a political force in the international community, real gains can be achieved, he said, making note of the ongoing Egyptian ceasefire initiative.

Az-Za’areer said he held every Palestinian responsible for stopping the bloodshed and reviving the Palestinian national project. He pointed out that the Israeli army’s shunning of the resolution expresses the continued Israeli interest in massacring Palestinians.

We should all be alert to our principal role in protecting our citizens through dialogue, and unity so we can strengthen our internal front, he finished.
