The officials of the private channels in Azerbaijan said that the council of National Radio and TV channels of Azerbaijan accepted the new rule for broadcasting of the foreign series, films and programs in Azerbaijani language. This decision was also applied to the Turkish programs, which were broadcasting in Azerbaijani channels in Turkish language. Following this the broadcasting of Turkish series in Azerbaijan was stopped.
The head of the Council, Nusirevan Meherremli said in his previous speech Turkish language is not foreign language for Azerbaijani people and within limits it is possible to broadcast the Turkish films and series.
The broadcasting of the Turkish series and films in Azerbaijani public and private channels began after the state decision of stopping the broadcasting of those mainly in Russian language. But there was no any problem for broadcasting in Turkish language, because mostly Turkish and Azeri language is same.
It is also mentioned that stopping of broadcasting of the Turkish films and series in Azerbaijani channels can be resulted with translation of them to Azerbaijani language. It’s probably a governmental decision to preserve Azerbaijani language from the influence of the foreign language.
