British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said her country supported Turkey in its fight against terrorism, adding that close cooperation against terror and organized crimes was of utmost importance.
"Turkish people have suffered a lot from terrorism and we understand them very well because the British people have also been there. And we have been supporting Turkey in its fight," Smith told reporters before her meeting with Turkish Interior Minister Besir Atalay in Ankara.
Smith said the British support for Turkey against terrorism would continue, adding that her government had included PKK in its terrorist organizations list.
The British secretary also cited "positive steps" in cooperation with Turkey against other terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda.
Smith is currently paying a three-day working visit to Turkey.
