Day eleven: Israeli forces pound Gaza from air and sea; clashes with resistance fighters continue |

Tuesday, 6 January 2009Gaza - Ma'an - Nineteen more Gazans were killed by the Israeli army since midnight on Tuesday morning, most from the central Gaza Strip.
Israeli airstrikes and ground operations continued overnight Monday and into Tuesday morning. According to Palestinian medical sources at least eleven Palestinians were killed by artillery fire from Israeli warships.
There are 145 dead since the ground invasion began, and now 575 dead in total since Israel launched its attack on the Gaza Strip.
Attacked by sea
Most of the fire from the warships was aimed at the Deir Al-Balah refugee camp on the coast of central Gaza. At least 20 others were injured in the attacks.
Airstrikes
Inland at the Al-Burejj refugee camp Israeli airstrikes killed five; a father and his three sons from the Abu Jebara family, as well as one other local. Dozens were injured.
Israeli warplanes targeted several houses among them the Kahlout Family killing threeand demolishing six homes. Among them was the Afanah house at An-Nafaq Street.
Three Palestinians were killed in Az-Zaitoun neighborhood in the Israeli shelling.
Israeli warplanes targeted the Al-Quds Brigades building central Gaza.
The Al-Yarmouk market was shelled for a second time since the Israeli strikes began.
Resistance Brigades in the Gaza Strip also reported losses overnight, with Islamic Jihad’s Al-Quds Brigades losing two to an Israeli shelling attack.
Clashes
One An-Nasser Salah Ad-Din activist was killed during clashes near Dier-Al-Balah, and sources claim at least three Israeli soldiers were killed during clashes in the Az-Zaitoun neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip.
