UN: At Least 500 Died in Gaza Assaults, A Quarter of Them Civilians

* Israeli forces pounded Gaza Strip houses, mosques and smuggling tunnels on Monday from the air, land and sea. The Israeli troops killed at least 20 children during the ground operation

* Israel ignored mounting international calls for a cease-fire.

Israeli forces seized control of high-rise buildings in Gaza on Monday. Israel jetw attacked smuggling tunnels and several mosques in the region. The United Nations (UN) said at least 500 people have died in the Gaza fighting. The UN reports that about a quarter of them are civilians including children and women.
