Monday, 5 January 2009Nablus – Ma’an – A Palestinian political activist and a member of the Committee for Coordination between Palestinian factions, Ghassan Hamdan on Monday called on Hamas leaders in Damascus to answer president Abbas’ call for dialogue in order to restore Palestinian unity and bolster the spirits of Palestinian fighters.
“Hamas leaders in Damascus must answer president Abbas’ call for dialogue and coordination in order to stop Israeli aggression on our people in the Gaza Strip, because that will raise spirits of resistance fighters and give hope to all the Palestinian people,” Hamdan told Ma’an.
Abbas and the Palestinian Authority (PA) leadership in the West Bank have called on rival factions to reenter unity talks in light of the Israeli onslaught in Gaza. The PA has also suspended political negotiations with Israel. |
