Sunday, 4 January 2009LONDON - Thousands of people gathered in London to protest Israeli air strikes on Gaza on Saturday. London Police estimated as many as 12.000 people participated in the London rally. Many protestors threw or left behind shoes at 10 Downing Street, the British prime minister's residence.
Following the two-hour rally in Trafalgar Square, a group of protesters decided to spontaneously march about 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) to the Israeli Embassy, where there have been protests all week. Some protesters tossed shoes at the police too.
No arrest was made in either the rally in Trafalgar Square or outside the Israeli Embassy.
Several other demonstrations were also made in Liverpool, Bristol, Leeds and Manchester cities.
At least 435 people have been killed including more than 60 children and 2,285 people have been wounded in Gaza in the week-long air strikes.
