Saturday, 3 January 2009By Sevgi YOLCU (JTW) - Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, a senior Iranian cleric and the chairman of Iran's Expediency Council, has urged the Muslim countries to support the Gaza people. He said "The oppressed Palestinian people can stand up to Israel if they receive political and financial support and also weapons” on Friday.
"Israel thinks it is more powerful than Arab states and other regional countries, while it has no weapon but the weapon of brutality" he added.
"Over the past week, the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip have found a large number of supporters, many of who are interested in launching Jihad against Israel," IRNA quoted the former Iranian president as saying.
