* Obama’s Senior Advisor: Israel is the most important ally in the region.

By Yesim SAHINER (JTW) - Although Barack Obama has kept its statements about the Gaza crisis to a minimum, his team but has provided assurances of its support for Israel. Daid Azelrod, a senior advisor to Mr Obama argued that Israel is a more important ally than Turkey or any Arab states in the region for the US.

David Axelrod said that President-elect Barack Obama is going to work closely with the Israelis. "They're a great ally of ours, the most important ally in the region” he added.

Mr Axelrod told the CBS Sunday talk show Face the Nation that Obama will also work for peae in Palestine.
