Sunday, 28 December 2008It was not possible for Turkey to overcome this crisis (global economic crisis) by itself and the country would overcome it along with whole world, the governor of Turkish Central Bank has said.
Central Bank Governor Durmus Yilmaz participated in a workshop on "Global Depression and Turkey's Economy" in capital Ankara on Saturday and replied to questions.
Yilmaz said that a major part of foreign debt belonged to the private sector in the country, responding a question on Turkey's external debts.
According to the presumptions of the Central Bank, current account deficit would decrease in 2009, he said.
"We keep funding the banks and financial system. We will provide necessary conditions for them not to have problem in regard to liquidity," he said. |
